John Beatty

A title by John Beatty who was an American banker and statesman from Ohio. He served as a brigadier general in the Union Army during the American Civil War. When the Civil War started Beatty volunteered as a private in the third Ohio Infantry, serving in western Virginia. By 1863, he was commissioned as a brigadier general following his service in the Tullahoma Campaign and the Battle of Stones River. He represented Ohio in the U.S. Congress from 1868 to 1873. The writer's record begins with the day on which his regiment entered Virginia, June 22, 1861, and ends on January 1, 1864.
